Agents of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested three foreign fugitives in separate operations in Pampanga and Parañaque City the other day.

BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU), in coordination with international law enforcement partners, arrested Kim Namhoon, a 48-year-old Korean national at a residential compound in Angeles City, Pampanga.

FSU bared that Kim is wanted in the Republic of Korea for fraud, with an arrest warrant issued by the Seoul Nambu District Court in October 2017.

It is said Kim, a subject of an Interpol Red Notice, forged a construction subcontract in 2014 and used the falsified document to defraud a victim of approximately 30 million Korean won.

Kim was also found to be overstaying in the Philippines since 2017.

His South Korean friend, Kim Kyoung Rei, 34-year-old, was also apprehended during the operation, for allegedly harboring Kim Namhoon and for failure to present valid immigration documents when checked by authorities.

On the same day, BI-FSU agents, also arrested Chinese fugitive, Wang Weixiao, a 36-year-old, at a residential complex in Parañaque City.

Wang, a fugitive, is sought money for laundering, with a detention warrant issued by Chinese authorities in October 2022.

Information from Chinese authorities stated that Wang was involved in laundering over one million yuan in fraudulently obtained funds between February and August 2022, using digital payment platforms and bank transfers.

BI records showed that Wang has been an overstaying alien in the country since March 2025.

Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado lauded the successful operations, saying that the BI remains committed to pursuing foreign fugitives hiding in the country≥

“We will relentlessly pursue and remove individuals who attempt to evade justice by hiding within our borders,” Viado warned.

The arrested individuals are currently under BI custody and will undergo deportation proceedings.
