Fugitive businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang has reportedly been sighted in Vietnam, according to Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla.
“Gumagawa kami ng hakbang ngayon para makipag-communicate through back channels. Bini-verify namin kung dumating talaga sa kanila,” Remulla said.
Earlier reports cite that Ang was believed to be in either Cambodia or Thailand, based on information from whistleblower Julie Patidongan.
Cambodian authorities, however, denied that Ang was in their country.
Remulla said that Ang could have left the country through unofficial routes, possibly via Mindanao, as there were no records of his departure with the Bureau of Immigration.
