Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, commended the Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Batangas under the leadership of its District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan, for its outstanding performance and sustained accomplishments in revenue collection, trade facilitation, and border protection. The recognition was highlighted during the Collectors’ Conference in April, where the Port presented its best practices and operational strategies that contributed to its continued efficiency and effectiveness.
The Port of Batangas, based on preliminary data, demonstrated strong revenue performance in March 2026, generating approximately ₱22.21 billion in collections against a target of ₱19.16 billion, resulting in a remarkable surplus of ₱3.05 billion for the month alone. For the first quarter of 2026, the Port likewise exceeded its revenue goal, collecting approximately ₱59.14 billion against its ₱58.75 billion target, reflecting a surplus of ₱398 million.
Commissioner Nepomuceno lauded the Port’s proactive and data-driven approaches, particularly its early coordination with shipping lines and importers, strict monitoring of valuation systems, and implementation of policies which have significantly improved revenue collection and minimized leakage. He also emphasized the Port’s strong stakeholder engagement, including consultative meetings, recognition of top importers, and the promotion of compliance programs, which have enhanced trust and strengthened partnerships with the private sector.
The Commissioner further recognized the Port’s commitment to modernization through the use of real-time monitoring dashboards, mobile applications, and tracking systems that streamline operations and support data-driven decision-making. He also noted the Port’s intensified coordination with partner agencies, which has reinforced border security efforts against smuggling and other illicit activities, as well as its adherence to international standards through the maintenance of its ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification.
Moreover, the Port was recognized with its initiatives in terms of personnel development and welfare, including capacity-building programs, integrity and accountability trainings, and employee engagement activities, which contribute to a more motivated and professional workforce. He underscored that these collective efforts reflect the Port of Batangas’ vital role in advancing the Bureau’s mandate of efficient revenue collection, trade facilitation, and border protection.
