BI, PBS Tie-Up to Boost Public Info Initiatives

By Lane Afable

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) renewed its partnership with the Presidential Broadcast Service – Bureau of Broadcast Services (PBS-BBS) following the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) aimed at enhancing public awareness on immigration matters through broadcast media.

The initiative supports the administration’s efforts under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to expand government information outreach and intensify the campaign against trafficking.

The signatories of the agreement were key officials from both organizations, including BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado and PBS-BBS Director Fernando Amparo-Sanga.

Under the renewed partnership, the BI will continue its radio program “Bagong Immigration: Usapang Byahe at Serbisyo,” which airs every Monday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM over Radyo Magasin 1278 kHz.

The agreement highlights the commitment of both agencies to promote public awareness by providing timely and relevant updates on government policies, programs, and initiatives.

“We thank PBS-BBS for their continued collaboration, which helps us keep the public informed about immigration policies, travel guidelines, and other services of the BI,” said Viado.

“This partnership recognizes broadcast media as an effective platform for sharing vital information and strengthening the Bureau’s engagement with the public,” he added.

Viado noted that under Bagong Immigration, the BI continues to enhance its communication initiatives by providing timely updates and guidance on immigration concerns.

“Through this collaboration, we aim to raise public awareness on trafficking schemes and other illegal activities involving foreign nationals, encouraging the public to remain vigilant and informed,” Viado said.
