Indonesia Government to Boost OFW’s Protection

 

 

Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) will continue to collaborate in boosting efforts to protect migrant workers and promote the welfare of migrant fishers under the partnership between Indonesia and the Philippines during a courtesy call today, January 29, 2026, at the DMW Central Office.

Both countries reaffirmed their shared commitment to protecting migrant workers by promoting fair, ethical, and sustainable recruitment practices in both land-based and sea-based sectors.

Ms. Yuliana Bahar, Assistant Secretary and Director of ASEAN Socio-Cultural Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, and Mr. Christiara Lingga Tresnawijaya, Second Secretary of the same directorate attended the call. Through this initiative, the DMW reaffirmed its commitment to protect overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) consistently. Joining OIC Secretary Bay were Assistant Secretary Levinson C. Alcantara, OIC Chief Pelagio F. Sanchez Jr., and Chief Mary Sol D. Dela Cruz.
