Calamba Mayor Ross Rizal said the ordinance for financial assistance for teachers’ post-graduate studies
A city ordinance that establishes a financial assistance program for school teachers wanting to pursue post-graduate studies was enacted into law in Calamba City.
Mayor Ross Rizal said that the ordinance will apply to teachers in both public and private schools.
The goal, Rizal said, is to encourage teachers to pursue higher studies to promote their educational and professional development.
“It will spawn advancement of teaching careers of our local educators that in turn will ignite satisfactory learning success, a noble legacy, that will directly benefit our children and generations,” he said.
Moreover, it will also be a new pathway to improve the quality of education in the city.
“Ito ay isang hakbang upang lalo pang mapaunlad ang kakayahan at kaalaman ng ating mga tagapagturo, bilang pundasyon ng mas mataas na kalidad ng edukasyon para sa bawat kabataang Calambeño,” Rizal added.
The ordinance will create a Program Screening Committee, led by the City Mayor, tasked to evaluate and approve the teachers’ applications for financial assistance.
