Taguig Conduct Earthquake drill

Taguig City highlighted the importance of disaster preparedness in health and special care institutions during the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) conducted on June 19.

Among the focus areas were the Taguig City General Hospital (TCGH) and the Yakap Center for Children with Disabilities—facilities that require specialized protocols to ensure the safety of patients and residents during emergencies.

Led by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the citywide drill tested evacuation procedures, casualty management, and emergency response protocols—especially in high-risk, high-responsibility environments where lives depend on fast, coordinated action.

At TCGH, 327 participants composed of medical staff and support teams practiced evacuation procedures, casualty management, and continuity of care amid potential post-earthquake conditions.

Meanwhile, at the Yakap Center, staff carried out calm and coordinated evacuation protocols tailored to the needs of children with disabilities. The activity highlighted the importance of inclusive and responsive safety measures in care facilities where residents require close assistance.

“Earthquake drills are essential, especially in places where patients and children require guided assistance. These exercises help us identify gaps, improve response time, and make our systems stronger,” said Mayor Lani Cayetano.

The June 19 drill mobilized a total of 102,296 participants across the city. Aside from hospitals and care facilities, the earthquake drill was simultaneously conducted in schools, barangays, health centers, universities, police headquarters, and other government offices in Taguig.
