President Marcos want smooth implementation smooth of Western Visayas Modern Airport

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. directed the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Monday to ensure the smooth implementation of the Western Visayas airports modernization, highlighting the government’s commitment to boost regional tourism and economic activity by improving the region’s aviation facilities.

President Marcos arrived in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique to lead the inauguration of the Antique Airport Development Project.

“Bahagi ang Antique Airport Development Project sa mas malawak na modernisasyon para sa buong Western Visayas,” the President said in his speech.

The President cited the ongoing rehabilitation of various facilities of the Iloilo International Airport such as its Passenger Terminal Building, escalators, flight information display system, and improvement of baggage handling system.

Asphalt work in Iloilo International Airport’s runway is also being done to improve safety.

Similar efforts are being carried out in Roxas Airport including the asphalting of the airport runway.

The construction of the airport control tower will also commence this year, said the President.

“Umaasa ako na pananatilihin ng DOTr at CAAP ang kalinisan, kaayusan, at organisasyon ng mga pasilidad na ito,” the Chief Executive directed.

“Gawin ninyo itong pamantayan para sa ating serbisyo sa mga residente at ating mga turista. Tiyakin ninyong naisasagawa nang maayos ang mga proyekto upang mas mabilis itong mapakinabangan ng ating mga mamamayan.”

The President said the government is implementing various projects in the region and around the country, to provide long-term benefit for the people. | PND
