The Quezon City Police District on Thursday served an arrest warrant on former Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis ‘Chavit’ Singson for a cyber libel case in Vigan City.
According to police, operatives of Eastwood Police Station implemented the warrant at around 1:18 p.m. on June 11 at Singson’s residence in Barangay Ugong Norte, Quezon City.
The warrant was issued by Judge Marie Gene Cecille Umali of the Regional Trial Court Branch 21 in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, and dated June 10, 2026.
The case, docketed as Criminal Case No. 10153-V-2026, involves an alleged violation of Section 4(c)(4) in relation to Section 6 of Republic Act No. 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Police said the court recommended bail of P60,000 for Singson’s temporary liberty.
Following the implementation of the warrant, the 84-year-old businessman was brought to Police Station 12 for booking, documentation, and other legal procedures.
