The proposal of Surigao del Sur Rep. Romeo Momo Sr. calling on the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) to temporarily suspend the collection of ‘toll fees’ on expressways due to the negative effects of the ongoing war in the Middle East was easily passed in Congress.
The lawmaker happily announced to the public the swift action of Congress on his proposed House Resolution (HR) 882.
“It was immediately acted upon after HR 883 was submitted on Monday, March 16,” Momo, SR. said.
Momo pointed out certainty that oil prices will rise and the prices of goods and services will also increase, not only in the country but around the world due to US-Israel-Iran conflict.
He added that aside from the suspension of toll fees, the TRB should also study his additional proposal to temporarily “reduce” the charges for those passing through expressways in order to provide even a small amount of relief to Filipinos and to the country’s economy while the war in the Middle East continues.
According to Momo, the suspension or reduction of toll fees would help ease the increase in the prices of goods and services, which in effect would also help prevent economic slow down.
