A 62-year old Filipina was intercepted at the NAIA Terminal 3 International Arrival Area by Bureau of Immigration (BI) upon her arrival due to a decade-old warrant of arrest for estafa.
The passenger just arrived from San Francisco, California but her record as a fugitive from justice surfaced in the system when she checked with the BI counter for her exit.
“It popped up in our files that the passenger has a standing warrant of arrest for estafa, with a recommended bail of P20,000,” a BI Immigration Officer said.
It was then that BI promptly coordinated with NAIA Police Station 3 for verification and appropriate action.
A joint operation was then carried out by NAIA Police Station 3 and Manila Police District – Barbosa Police Station (PS-14), leading to the successful service of the warrant.
The accused is now in the custody of the MPD-Barbosa PS 14 for documentation and further legal action.
