The City of Muntinlupa is aiming for new heights to conquer, raising a generation of
readers that not only excel academically, but dream big from the books they read.
Mayor Ruffy Biazon led the launch of the Muntinlupa Reading Book (MRB) Club for Kids
with a reading session at the opening of the new Tunasan Children’s Park on January 26.
"Reading is a basic building block for knowledge," Biazon said, adding that the MRB Club
"will be helpful in achieving the goals of the 7K Agenda in educating young Muntinlupeños
of the present for the future."
As a program of the City Government, the MRB Club organizes book reading sessions in
different communities in Muntinlupa. Its main goal is to promote a culture of reading
among Muntinlupeño children.
Among its objectives, the MRB Club aims to develop basic literacy skills such as reading,
listening, comprehension, speaking, and vocabulary at an early age, as well as develop
stronger familial bonds through parent-child interaction.
The program also encourages social interaction by bringing together people with a love for
books, and promotes volunteerism and community-building. As such, the MRB Club is open
to volunteer readers under the Make Your City Proud program who wish to share their
passion for reading to kids of all ages and hone their interpersonal skills in the process.
