The Office of the Ombudsman has announced an investigation into Senators Robin Padilla and Jinggoy Estrada over their alleged involvement in a recent disturbance inside the Senate.
Senator Padilla is set to be looked into regarding the circumstances surrounding Senator Bato dela Rosa’s exit from the Senate during the incident, while Senator Estrada is also included in the probe following his controversial social media remark, “Itago ninyo iyong CCTV,” which sparked public debate on evidence handling.
During a press briefing on Friday, May 15, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said the investigation will also extend to all relevant parties, including the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Senate’s Office for Security and Safety Affairs (OSAA), and responding police personnel.
Estrada later clarified that his statement was meant to emphasize the need to secure CCTV footage as crucial evidence in the ongoing inquiry.
