8,000 jobs in Taiwan’s tourism industry

 

A window of opportunity has opened for Filipinos with experience working in the hotels in the country as Taiwan our nearest neighbor will soon accept migrant workers for it’s hospitality sector.

According to migrant expert Emmanuel S. Geslani from his sources in Taiwan tourism officials have voiced out the need to allow migrant workers to fill in the gap of 8,000 jobs in Taiwan’s tourism industry.

The country’s vast manpower pool in the hotel and hospitality fields will be able to apply for those Taiwan jobs by the second half of 2025 as Tourism and Ministry of Labor with the Taiwan hotel industry are finalizing the procedures for the entry of migrant workers.

The 8,000 jobs are in the housekeeping and cleaning areas and some mid-level positions in reception that will ease the workload of the current work force.

Taiwan received 8 million tourists in 2024 and according to tourism officials may reach 10,000 by the end of 2025 which justifies the need to allow migrant workers to beef up the local workforce.

Foreign students 18 years old and above in Taiwan may also be allowed to work part-time there are also labor shortages for other sectors, such as hospital care assistants, logistics and warehousing personnel, truck drivers and assistants, highway and city bus drivers, and safety management personnel.

The projected salary is NT 30,000 or P 57,000 pesos slightly higher compared OFWs factory workers earning NT 28,590 NT or P 54,600 pesos however overtime work is unlimited so many OFWs average 70-80,000 pesos monthly wages.

There are 160,000 OFWs in Taiwan says MECO (Manila Economic and Cultural Office) Chairman Cheloy Garafil 140,000 in factories and the rest are caretakers.

Recently the Taiwan deploying agencies PILMAT (Pilipino Manpower Agencies Accredited to Taiwan paid a courtesy call to Meco Chairman Garafil to discuss the accreditation process and issues for our OFWs in Taiwan.
