AKO-OFW Partylist, expresses gratitude to PBBM following royal clemency for over 200 OFW’s detained in UAE

 

The AKO-OFW Partylist, welcomed the philippine government’s efforts, following the release of 220 filipino detainees in the united arab emirates (uae), coinciding with the country’s 53rd national day celebrations.

According to Dr.Chie Umandap, chairman and first nominee of the 116 ako ofw partylist, President Bongbong Marcos’ swift action in coordinating with the uae government led to the release of overseas filipino workers (ofws) imprisoned for various offenses.

“this clemency brings immense relief to numerous filipino families reunited with their loved ones,” Umandap added.

The AKO-OFW Partylist chairman emphasized that this development strengthens philippines-uae relations due to effective diplomacy.

Umandap reminded ofws to respect local laws and culture to avoid potential difficulties.

He assured that the safety and well-being of ofws remain the top priority for a brighter future, not only for their families but also for the philippines.

Recall that in june 2024, 143 filipino prisoners in the uae received pardons during Eid al-adha celebrations.
