In a significant step toward sustainability and reducing carbon emissions, dnata Philippines has introduced its first fleet of “green” Ground Support Equipment (GSE) at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila. This move marks the beginning of a broader initiative to modernize airport operations while minimizing the environmental footprint of air travel.
The newly deployed electric and hybrid electric GSE includes two electric towing tugs and two hybrid electric conveyor belt loaders. These vehicles are designed to not only improve operational efficiency but also contribute to dnata’s goal of achieving a more eco-friendly and sustainable future for airport ground handling services.
The introduction of electric and hybrid electric GSE at Manila International Airport is just the beginning of dnata’s “green GSE” strategy. This initiative forms part of dnata’s broader global sustainability goals, which focus on reducing its carbon footprint across all aspects of airport operations. The company aims to deploy additional electric and hybrid GSE in the near future, with plans to expand the fleet at NAIA and other key airports in the region.
dnata has long been an advocate for sustainability, having introduced similar green initiatives at other airports around the world. The success of these initial deployments at Manila International Airport is expected to inspire further investments in sustainable ground support technologies, not just for dnata, but across the entire industry.
