Germany needs more skilled workers eases visas process

Skilled Filipino Overseas Workers have better chances in entering Germany as the government has introduce new visa reforms that will enable it to address the labor shortages now affecting the economy.

Among the changes is the introduction of a points- based opportunity card
which allows job seekers to enter Germany for up to one year to search for employment.

Among the salient features applicants do not need a job offer before entering Germany and one year search visa.

Germany will increase 10% more skilled workers visas up to 25,000 more compared to 2024.

The sectors that will benefit are IT, engineering and health care and streamlined processing to reduce waiting time.

A key point in the visa reforms will now allow the entry on Non-EU workers to encourage migration from non-EU countries. This will benefit thousands of Filipino workers who are working in the Eastern bloc of Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia Romania and Croatia who are slowly reducing the demand for OFWs.

Germany has set a new minimum salary threshold for job offers. The job offer in Germany must assure an annual gross salary of at least €43,470 or P 2, 521,260 pesos.

Other benefits are faster processing for families to join the skilled workers.

Germany urgently needs at least 400,000 skilled workers annually as it faces labor shortage in IT,Engineering and Healthcare.
