Operatives of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Intelligence Division arrested a Pakistani national in Barangay Tiguma, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur on 16 June 2025 for violation of Philippine immigration laws.
The operation was in line with President Ferdinand ‘Bong Bong’ Marcos, Jr.’s directive to strengthen enforcement of immigration laws. The arrest was conducted in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the 53rd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army.
A mission order was issued by BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado against Pakistani man Sajjad Khan, 31, after receiving intelligence information about his illegal stay in the country.
Verification of BI records show that Khan is blacklisted from the country since 2016. He later admitted that he entered the Philippines on boat via an illegal migration corridor, more commonly known as ‘backdoor’.
He was found liable for violation of Section 37(a)(1) of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940, as amended, for illegal entry and for being an undocumented alien.
Upon arrest, he was brought to the Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office for documentation and further investigation and was transferred the following day to the Bureau of Immigration Warden Facility (BIWF) at Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, for temporary custody pending further legal proceedings.
