MUNTINLUPA AT 30: A SMART, SUSTAINABLE, AND STRONG CITY CHARTING ITS FUTURE

Muntinlupa celebrated its 30th Cityhood Anniversary on March 1, 2025, with a series of milestone events, culminating in Mayor Ruffy Biazon’s State of the City Address (SOCA) at the Filinvest Tent, Alabang. He highlighted the city’s achievements, ongoing initiatives, and future plans, reaffirming Muntinlupa’s vision as a Smart, Sustainable, and Strong City.

The celebration kicked off with a Thanksgiving Mass, followed by the groundbreaking of the Mental Health and Palliative Care Building and the Mega Health Center—projects that strengthen healthcare and early childhood development.

The city government also awarded its Top 10 taxpayers, with the Ford Group Philippines, Filinvest Land – Festival Mall, and Filinvest Alabang securing the top spots, respectively.

Mayor Biazon emphasized that the taxpayers are the local government’s partners in the latter’s commitment to people-centered innovation, resilience, and good governance, showcasing advancements under his 7K Agenda standing for Kalusugan (Health), Karunungan (Education), Kabuhayan (Livelihood), Kalikasan (Environment), Katarungan (Social Justice), Kapayapaan-Kaayusan (Peace and Order), and Kaunlaran (Urban Development), and Smart City initiatives.

Key programs include MUNtizen ID for seamless citizen services and the expansion of MUNConnect, the city’s public Wi-Fi network, as part of positioning Muntinlupa as a Model Smart Urban Village. Mayor Biazon also mentions the process of updating the city’s Comprehensive Land and Water Use Plan and Zoning Ordinance to guide Muntinlupa’s growth and resource allocation.

The city’s dedication to progress has earned it national recognition, including its third Seal of Good Local Governance and high rankings in the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index.

“Ang Muntinlupa, hindi lang sumusunod sa agos. Tayo mismo ang nagtatakda ng ating kinabukasan,” Mayor Biazon declared, calling on residents to take an active role in shaping the city’s future.

The celebration featured a month-long lineup of events, including environmental clean-ups, senior citizen activities, job fairs, trade exhibits, and competitions showcasing the talents of Muntinlupeños in sports, arts, and more.
