San Pedro City Rep. Ann Matibag named Vice Chair of 19th Congress’ CWGE

Matibag, a first-term Congressman, accepted the appointment with a vow to House Speaker Martin Romuldez that she will work hard and do her best at all times to carryout her responsibilities to ensure she won’t fail the Speaker’s trust and confidence and that of Congress, as a whole.
“My government service background, vast experiences in life championing causes of women and LGBTQ since I was young, plus extensive academic trainings, I am confident that I can manage the job and deliver successfully tough tasks crucial to the success of legislative directions and missions of the committee.
“I am a staunch advocate on the welfare and interests of  women and of the LGBT communities (which began since my youth to date) –and being a woman myself, I am confident that I can capably champion all ad rem causes and legislations of the committe in this 19th Congress.
“Makakaasa po kayo na aking gagamitin ang oportunidad na ito upang mas magkaroon ng diskurso at karampatang aksyon ang mga mahahalagang usapin ukol sa mga kababaihan at gender equality,” Matibag said on Facebook.
Rep. Matibag, also known as “LaguNanay” in Laguna, said that her current and successful gender-oriented programs that started immediately after winning the Laguna Provincial Board Member seat years ago will be one of built-in crucial references to help refine many possible gender equality legislations that will be tackled in CWGE In 19th Congress.
“My unwavering commitment to uplift the welfare of all women and LGBTQ in the country will be my complete inspiration to do best on this job,” Rep. Matibag said.
