CAAP, PAF join forces to strengthen air operations in the country

The Civil Aviation Authority of Philippines (CAAP) and the Philippine Air Force (PAF) formally signed the Implementing Agreement to strengthen civil-military air operations in the Philippines on Monday, April 14 at Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.

The agreement reactivates the PAF-CAAP Joint Steering Committee (PCJSC), which will oversee cooperation on air operations, safety, security, training, legal matters, and other shared concerns.

CAAP will be responsible for ensuring the safe, orderly, and efficient management of air traffic within the Manila Flight Information Region (FIR). Meanwhile, PAF will handle the detection, identification, interception, and, when necessary, the neutralization of hostile aircraft within the Philippine Air Defense Identification Zone (PADIZ).

“This accomplishment is the result of our tireless efforts and unwavering dedication, proving what we can achieve when we work, not just side by side, but hand in hand, towards our common goal,” said CAAP Director General Retired LtGen Raul Del Rosario.

This collaboration underscores the commitment of both CAAP and PAF to uphold the integrity and safety of Philippine airspace while fostering stronger coordination and shared responsibility in addressing both current and emerging aviation challenges.
