The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing air travel infrastructure and regional connectivity with an inspection of the ongoing modernization of Tacloban Airport, officially known as Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport on Friday, March 14, 2025.
Leading the inspection were Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, CAAP Director General Retired Lt. Gen. Raul del Rosario, Deputy Director General for Administration Atty. Danjun Lucas, and other key officials from the DOTr, in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
The visit focused on assessing the progress of the airport’s new passenger terminal building (PTB), a critical component of the development project.
As of March 14, 2025, construction of the new PTB has reached 56.48% completion, with full completion targeted for April 2026. Once operational, the upgraded terminal will significantly enhance passenger convenience and operational efficiency, aligning with the government’s commitment to modernizing the country’s aviation infrastructure.
The collaboration between the DOTr and CAAP highlights the government’s dedication to providing a more seamless and comfortable travel experience while strengthening regional air connectivity by accommodating increased passenger traffic and additional flight operations.
