The Philippine National Police (PNP) awarded Las Piñas as the “Safe City” in the National Capital Region (NCR) during the 121st Police Service Anniversary held recently at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Hinirang Hall, Taguig City.
City police chief P/Col. Jaime Santos presented the plaque of recognition to Mayor Imelda Aguilar on August 15 signed by NCRPO Director Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad.
With the attained achievement, Aguilar congratulated the local police for making Las Piñas a safer place to live with. Aguilar said the award was based on the police performance making Las Piñas as the city with the least crime volume. The mayor added that the city police has also recorded the highest number of arrested suspects on committed crimes. “Ipinagmamalaki ko ang ating Police Las Piñas at nagawa nila ang ating lungsod na maging “safe city” sa buong NCR at binabati ko rin si Col.
Jaime Santos at ang ating mga kapulisan na nagpapanatili ng kaligtasan sa ating lungsod. ,” Aguilar said. Aguilar further said that the 5K program (Kalusugan, Kaayusan,Kaalaman, Kalinisan,Kinabukasn) in which the city government is currently implementing is also part of her administrations “Tuloy ang Tapat at Progresibong Serbisyo.” She said the biggest factor how the local police force made the city as safer place to live in the NCR was through police visibility and the conduct of checkpoints in coordination with the different barangays in the city.
