LINGIG SURIGAO DEL SUR MAYOR AND TEAM BENCHMARK LAS PIÑAS LGU TO IDENTIFY INTERNAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT

The city government of Las Piñas extended its heartfelt appreciation to Lingig Surigao del Sur Mayor Elmer Evangelio and members of his administration for taking the city as an example and adopting the best practices being implemented for a progressive city.

Mayor Evangelio together with his department heads who visited Las Piñas were very amazed with the hospitality of the mother and daughter tandem City Mayor Imelda Aguilar and Vice-Mayor April Aguilar.

During the benchmarking held at The Excelsior Hotel on Friday, Sept. 23, the local government presented the city’s four Ks (Kalusugan, Kalinisan, Kaayusan and Kaalaman) programs that bring better services to the constituents of the city.
For Kalusugan, the city government implemented a green card program being distributed to city residents to help for their hospitalization ,conducted ‘chikiting bakunation’ and free cataract surgery.

With the Kalusugan program, Las Piñas was recognized by the Department of Health (DOH) for its outstanding performance in surpassing the 96 percent target wherein the number of vaccinated children reached 106 percent.

Under the Kalinisan program, Las Piñas implements the clean and green program and the proper disposal of the solid waste management in order to maintain the cleanliness of the city.

Las Piñas likewise gathered the Safe City Award on August 9 based on the outstanding performance of the local police that made the city with the least crime volume.

Mayor Aguilar revealed that the city police also has also recorded the highest number of arrested suspects for committed crimes.

She said the “biggest” factor in how the local police force made the city a “safer” place to live in the NCR was police visibility and the conduct of checkpoints in coordination with the different barangays in the city.

Mayor Aguilar said the Safe City Award is under the Kaayusan program being implemented by the city government with the help of the local police.

She added that under the Kaalaman program, the city government teaches urban farming to promote sustainable livelihood and an essential source of health food for residents.

Evangelio and his team were amazed with the presentation of the city government in demonstrating its successful implemented practices making Las Piñas a progressive and safe city to live on.

Also present during the benchmarking were Las Piñas City officials led by City Administrator Reynado Balagulan, Public Information Office (PIO) chief Paul San Miguel together with the other department head.
